Why call it Third Day?
The third day after the death of Jesus Christ was the most important day for the world. It was on this day that everything changed! Christ rose from the grave on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4) and it was His resurrection that allowed everyone to receive salvation and everlasting life (John 3:16) if they choose to make Him Lord and Saviour of their life.
Third Day Church believes in pursuing the presence of God and that the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is alive in us today.
What’s the history of Third Day Church?
Third Day Church (formerly Third Day Worship Centre) began on Nov 20, 2011 by Dick and Joan Deweert, who felt the call of God to begin a work emphasizing the importance of corporate worship.
Dick and Joan are experienced in ministry, having pastored several large churches in the city of Lethbridge for many years. Under their ministry leadership, Streets Alive, a ministry to the poor and needy of the city, was born and a few years later they founded the Miracle Channel and led this ministry from 1994 until 2007. Under their leadership this ministry grew from a local television station to a national and international work which touched many lives.
After a hiatus from the ministry, they felt a call to begin God-centred worship services where Holy Spirit had freedom to move. With much encouragement from those around them and confirmation from Holy Spirit, they started Third Day Church (formerly Third Day Worship Centre) of Lethbridge, AB, with the blessing of Francis and Edith Armstrong. Francis and Edith attended the grand opening service on January 22, 2012.
3DC is affiliated with of the Third Day Ministries Fellowship of Canada which was founded by Pastors Francis and Edith Armstrong and is based in Kingston, Ontario.
At 3DC, we emphasize the importance of corporate worship with the conviction that worship is the key to releasing a greater measure of God’s presence in our midst. In Ephesians 2:22 we read, “in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (NKJV)
We believe our church is to be a dwelling place for the Spirit of God created through worship, as well as a community of believers where the love of God is practically expressed. Our desire is that you would experience the reality of the Lord’s presence with us.
Third Day Church is to be a place where the Kingdom of God comes first. We see the local church as a part of a much greater work that extends locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. It is our goal to work in cooperation with all other expressions of Christ’s kingdom to advance the gospel in the earth.
We also have a vision that extends to our nation and beyond through media, conferences and prophetic ministry.
We hope that you will find 3DC to be a place of ministry for the entire family, changing the spiritual climate in your home, our region and our nation.
It is our priority to train and release leaders within and without our congregation to serve the purpose of Christ’s kingdom. Third Day Church intends to train leaders through biblical education and discipleship programs for all types of ministry. Training in the use of media and the worship arts are included.
Our purpose is to provide a place where this building and equipping of the Church can be made possible along with releasing and activating men and women for ministry.
